Go ahead and say it: It looks like a race car. That's what we said, too, and were ready to dismiss it as a gimmick. But then we tried it, and we stopped smirking. The smaller front roller changes everything you know about using a belt sander, making the belt's route more of a triangle than an oval. And because of that, you can get the grit to spaces you couldn't with a standard belt sander—for example, you can actually scoot right up to the baseboard when sanding a floor. There's more contact area with this design, and while that may be a moot point, we think it's still worth mentioning. We really like the three-position handle; it adjusts easily and lets you have the grip you need to be in control of an aggressive tool like this one. The dust collector works as well as any on a belt sander (meaning you're still going to have a mess to clean up). Belt changes are pretty straightforward and easy, thanks to the simple belt release lever. Because it's not a high-end tool, don't expect impeccable belt tracking here; still, the adjustment knob does a good job of tracking. This is one of those why-didn't-someone-think-of-this-sooner tools. Such a simple design change offers so much more utility in a well-priced staple of the workshop.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Great product        Rating:

There are numerous reviews that are negative on this product. If you use the sander according to the directions. The sander is lightweight, easy to handle, and makes quick work of any sanding project. I am usually sanding down scrap lumber I get from construction sites and the sander is far superior than the heavier pricy models. Yes you do adjust the tracking whenever you put a new sanding belt on, and when pushing down to hard and going side to side with the sander...which is not the way to use this sander. For the price this product is great and I just bought a replacement because of user error...the power cord became stuck in the sander and fried the motor before I could turn it off...see all my fault.

Work alright, but not durable        Rating:

I was quite pleased with the performance of this tool for the week that I used it extensively. But then it fell off a work horse and became unusable. This is because the dust bag is secured to the tool by a long plastic piece, and when the tool fell, that piece broke. I got a refund for the tool, because if a power tool can't reliably endure a 3' fall, it's not worth keeping.

Upside Down        Rating:

They don't really tell you but unlike high-end sanders, you can stick two finishing nails in the bench top and put it over them upside down. Now its a bench sander, and you can grind huge, complex shapes in metal, wood or plastic. Freehand, it makes surfboards or hardwood floors.
Be sure to wear a dustmask and face shield, and ear protectors. This is a really cool tool.
